Zeh Ani (It's Me) - User Guide

Last Updated: 2026-02-12

For Parents: Getting Started

What is Zeh Ani?

Zeh Ani ("It's Me" in Hebrew) is an AI-powered feature inside Bayit+ that helps your child connect with Hebrew through personalized content. Instead of passively watching shows, your child becomes part of the story -- their face, their voice, their adventure.

Zeh Ani turns Hebrew from "homework language" into "superpower language."

How It Works

Zeh Ani has three core experiences:

  1. Star in the Story -- Your child's 3D avatar appears inside shows, matching each show's art style automatically.
  2. Phonetic Mirror -- Your child records Hebrew phrases and hears them played back through their avatar with native-level pronunciation, building confidence.
  3. Hebrew Key -- Interactive moments where the story pauses and your child must speak Hebrew to continue the adventure.

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Open Zeh Ani

From the Bayit+ home screen, tap the Zeh Ani section. You will see the Zeh Ani Dashboard showing your child's greeting, highlights, contacts, and feedback.

Before any AI features activate, you must provide parental consent. This is a one-time setup per child profile.

  1. Open Biometric Consent from the Zeh Ani menu
  2. Enter your 4-digit parental PIN (the same PIN used in Family Controls)
  3. You will see three consent toggles:
    • 3D Avatar Generation -- Allows creating a 3D mesh of your child's face
    • Voice-to-Voice -- Allows recording and transforming your child's voice
    • Advanced AI Features -- Enables speech-gated narratives and live avatar overlays
  4. Toggle on the features you approve
  5. Tap Save

Your data stays secure:

  • All processing uses encrypted connections
  • COPPA-compliant data handling
  • You can revoke any consent at any time by returning to this screen
  • The parental "kill switch" deletes all AI data instantly

Step 3: Create the 3D Avatar

Once consent is granted:

  1. Open Avatar Generation
  2. Tap Generate Avatar
  3. The system creates a personalized 3D mesh of your child
  4. You will see a progress indicator: Generating... Rigging... Ready
  5. When complete, tap Preview to see the 3D avatar
  6. You can rotate, zoom, and examine the avatar from all angles

The avatar is stored securely and reused across all Zeh Ani features.

Step 4: Set Up Family Contacts

The "Saba/Savta Connection" lets your child share Hebrew progress with family:

  1. Open Contacts from the Zeh Ani menu
  2. Tap Add Contact
  3. Enter:
    • Name (e.g., "Saba Moshe")
    • Phone number (with country code)
    • Relationship (Grandparent, Parent, Aunt, Uncle, Other)
    • Preferred language (Hebrew, English, Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic, Yiddish, German, Portuguese, Italian)
  4. Tap Save

Contacts receive highlight reels and progress updates via WhatsApp.

Step 5: Start Exploring

Your child is now ready to use all Zeh Ani features. Here is what each one does:

Feature Guide for Parents

Magic Mirror

What it does: Shows your child's 3D avatar with a personalized Hebrew greeting and vocabulary words of the day.

What you see: A 3D animated avatar that waves and speaks, plus Hebrew vocabulary cards showing the word in Hebrew, transliteration (how to pronounce it), and English translation.

Why it matters: Daily vocabulary exposure in a fun, personalized context. Your child sees "themselves" as a Hebrew speaker.

Voice Practice (Phonetic Mirror)

What it does: Your child records themselves saying Hebrew phrases, and the AI plays back a perfected version through their avatar.

What you see: A practice screen showing the target Hebrew phrase with transliteration and translation. Your child taps the microphone to record, then sees a before/after score comparison.

Why it matters: This bypasses the "shame phase" of language learning. By hearing "themselves" speak with a native accent, children develop confidence and a subconscious identity as a Hebrew speaker.

Scoring: Each attempt shows:

  • Before score -- How the child's raw recording compared to native pronunciation
  • After score -- How the AI-enhanced version sounds
  • Improvement -- The delta between the two, showing progress over time

Interactive Scenes (Hebrew Key)

What it does: During content playback, the story pauses at key moments. Your child must say a Hebrew word or phrase to make the story continue.

What you see: A prompt appears showing the target Hebrew word. Your child speaks into the device microphone. If recognized correctly, the story advances. If not, they can try again.

Why it matters: Hebrew becomes a "superpower" -- the key to unlocking the next part of the adventure. This transforms language practice from obligation to excitement.

Live Avatar Overlay

What it does: During content playback, your child's 3D avatar appears as an overlay in the corner of the screen, reacting to the content with facial expressions and lip-sync.

What you see: A small 3D avatar in the bottom corner that moves and reacts in real-time via WebSocket connection.

Why it matters: Creates a sense of presence and belonging. Your child is not just watching -- they are "in" the show.

Highlight Reels

What it does: Generates shareable video compilations of your child's Hebrew milestones.

What you see: A list of highlight reels with thumbnails, moment counts, and status. You can generate new reels and share them.

Why it matters: This is the "Saba Viral Loop." When grandparents in Israel receive a video of their grandchild speaking Hebrew, the emotional impact creates powerful organic word-of-mouth marketing. More importantly, it strengthens family bonds across continents.

Sharing: Tap the share button on any ready reel. The link format is bayit.tv/zeh-ani/reels/{token} and works via WhatsApp, iMessage, or any messaging app.

Feedback Inbox

What it does: Displays voice and text messages from family members responding to shared highlight reels.

What you see: A list of messages from contacts showing sender name, message preview, and timestamp. Voice messages include a play button for audio playback.

Why it matters: Two-way communication completes the feedback loop. When Saba sends back a "Bravo!" voice message, your child feels celebrated for speaking Hebrew.

Troubleshooting

Avatar generation stuck on "Generating"

The 3D mesh generation typically takes 30-60 seconds. If it exceeds 2 minutes, close and reopen the Avatar Generation screen. The system polls every 3 seconds and will pick up where it left off.

Voice recording not working

Ensure Bayit+ has microphone permission in your device Settings. The app records at 16kHz mono PCM for optimal speech recognition quality.

Highlight reel shows "Processing"

Highlight reel compilation uses FFmpeg server-side and may take 1-2 minutes for longer reels. Refresh the list to check for status updates.

Contact not receiving WhatsApp messages

Verify the phone number includes the country code (e.g., +972 for Israel, +1 for US). The contact must have WhatsApp installed on that number.

Live overlay not appearing during playback

The live avatar overlay requires an active WebSocket connection. Ensure you have a stable internet connection. The overlay connects automatically when content starts playing.
